Get answers to common questions about Cornrows.
Cornrows typically last four to eight weeks depending on hair growth, braid size, and care. Smaller braids often stay neat longer. Use a silk wrap at night, avoid heavy products, and schedule touch-ups when edges begin to loosen.
Properly installed cornrows should not damage hair. Excessive tension, however, can cause breakage or traction alopecia. Always communicate comfort levels, request gentler tension, and give your hair regular breaks between protective styles to reduce risk.
Installation time varies: simple straight rows can take one to two hours, while intricate patterns or many small braids may require three to six hours. Time depends on hair length, density, and desired detail; we'll provide a precise estimate during consultation.
You can swim and exercise with cornrows, but take precautions: wet and condition braids before chlorinated water, wear a swim cap when possible, rinse and condition after swimming, and pat dry to prevent dryness and frizz.
Maintain cornrows by cleansing the scalp every one to two weeks with diluted shampoo or cleansing spray, moisturizing with light oils or leave-ins, sleeping with a silk scarf or bonnet, and avoiding heavy products or excessive manipulation.
Extensions are optional for added length, volume, or color. We recommend pre-stretched kanekalon, high-quality synthetic, or human hair based on budget and desired look. Your stylist will advise the safest option and installation method.
